A downloadable game

A one-page RPG, created for the one-page rpg jam 2025 with the simple concepts of crows learning to become the new top-tier species in a ruined world after the humans have gone, using a rules-lite system inspired the idea of a greater game of gods and crows in a world gone grey.

Scorn and a good pecking are what they have.

No, I don't know where the people went. No, the crows don't either.

Pecker hopped onto the edge of the roof where his unnamed protégé crouched, feathers ruffled against the glare of the setting sun. The young crow croaked a single word: “rats.” Then she turned back to the car‑strewn street, eyes fixed and unblinking.

Pecker squinted, first with one eye, then the other, until he caught the scurrying shapes. A tide of rats poured from the direction of the railyard, tails lashing, claws scrabbling, their panic sharp as blood on the wind. He did not need to wonder what could drive them in such a frenzy, it would be fire or the Blight and there was no smoke on the air.

“Do you see any blightspawn?” he asked, voice low and rasping.

“Not yet,” she answered, feathers tight against her body. “But something’s driving them. Something that scares them, something they can’t swarm.”

Pecker turned his head toward the Rookery on the next block. He filled his chest and let out a harsh caw that split the air, a warning for every ear that might hear. No ordinary beast could breach the Rookery’s defenses, but if blightspawn were coming, the flock would need to be ready.

The rats streamed past below, their bodies a surging tide of fur and naked tails. The shadows stretched long between the broken cars. Pecker lifted his gaze to the sky, the moon was veiled behind thick clouds. In the Ruins of the city the Humans left behind,  a dark night was when things prowled that should not move.

He clicked his beak once, sharp as a nail on stone, and muttered to himself. A bad night to be out. A worse night to be caught unprepared.
